Responsibility

We, at IHCL, have inclusion and business responsibility embedded in our DNA and proudly carry forward the beacon of community service laid by our founder Jamsetji Tata. We give back to society by enabling livelihoods for less privileged target groups through skilling and leveraging our business value chain to support traditional art & heritage and social purpose organizations. We support our neighborhoods by maintaining & promoting public spaces, tourism spots & heritage sites. We persistently work towards optimizing energy and water usage and responsible waste management and regularly communicate our sustainability performance through United Nations Global Compact and Business Responsibility Reporting.

CSR and Inclusion

We have trained and certified over 20,000 youth from under-served communities. We support over 60 traditional silk weavers and 6 social impact organizations through the Taj value chain. We currently run 14 Taj-Tata STRIVE skill training centers and 15 hotels offering Golden Threshold Programme in partnership with Tata Institute of Social Sciences – offering pro-bono vocational training to target communities; 3 heritage sites being supported; 1600+kgs of used soaps donated to Diversey’s recycling initiative.

Our hotels support the local neighborhoods through needs-based activities & and have enabled indirect employment for over 100 artisans and cultural troupes members.

The Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT)

The Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT) was set up in December 2008, in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks. Inspired by the resilience of survivors and the courage of those who came to their aid, our purpose is to reach out to people affected by disasters, both man-made and natural, with support to rebuild their lives.

Our mandate is to extend relief, rehabilitation and other assistance victims of terror, natural calamities and other tragic events that inflict damage to life and property. In this endeavor, we partner with NGOs, institutions, and other Tata Group companies and Trusts

Sustainability

The aim of shaping our common future is the basis of all our undertakings towards environmental stewardship, social responsibility and business performance.

Our approach in this context is simplification to
concentrate on core priorities, synergy between
internal teams and with external collaborators, and scale to multiply positive impacts.

As we step forward into an era of unprecedented global challenges and countless opportunities, we are proud of our rich legacy as part of the 150-year old Tata Group. With this legacy comes responsibility as caretakers of our planet and contributors to building
our society.
